REACCIONES ALÉRGICAS CAUSADAS POR COSMÉTICOS Y DERMOCOSMÉTICOS: UNA REVISIÓN DE LA LITERATURA

Los cosméticos son productos aplicados en las superficies del cuerpo, como la piel y el cabello, con el objetivo de embellecer y mantener la apariencia estética, sin finalidad terapéutica. En contraste, los dermocosméticos se centran en el tratamiento y la prevención de condiciones de la piel, siendo formulados con base en evidencia científica. Aunque no requieren prescripción, algunos ingredientes pueden ser absorbidos y entrar en la circulación sistémica. De esta manera, el presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo revisar la literatura sobre reacciones alérgicas causadas por estos productos, identificando ingredientes alergénicos y manifestaciones clínicas. Se incluyeron 19 artículos en la revisión de literatura. Los perfumes, frecuentemente responsables de reacciones alérgicas, contienen sustancias que pueden interactuar con la piel, llevando a condiciones como dermatitis. La dificultad para cuantificar la incidencia de reacciones se ve exacerbada por la falta de asociaciones claras entre alergias y productos cosméticos, además de la escasez de información en las etiquetas. Las alergias tienen diferentes patrones de incidencia entre géneros, siendo más prevalentes en las manos y la cara de las mujeres. La seguridad en productos para bebés es especialmente crítica, con un enfoque creciente en ingredientes antimicrobianos en sustitución de conservantes potencialmente alergénicos. La revisión también discute la eficacia de las etiquetas "hipoalergénico" y "para niños", que a menudo carecen de regulación.
