Abstract

This article addresses the main visuomotor alterations in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and explores the importance of optometric interventions for their overall development. ASD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by social, communication, and cognitive difficulties that emerge early in childhood. This review details the specific disturbances in visuomotor skills observed in ASD, highlighting the interactions between visual perception, ocular motor control, and the underlying neural networks. Such dysfunctions can significantly impact socialization, learning, and behavioral adaptation. In this context, the study emphasizes the relevance of optometric interventions in optimizing visuomotor abilities. The research is intended for healthcare professionals, educators, parents, and caregivers, aiming to enhance therapeutic strategies and comprehensive care for children with ASD.
